Kentrell DeSean Gaulden is the real name of NBA YoungBoy, an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He was born on October 20, 1999. In the two years between 2015 and 2017, he independently published six mixtapes.

 Gaulden has gained a following for his musical creations. In 2017, he signed with Atlantic Records. Gaulden's single "Outside Today," published in January 2018, peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

 In the same year, he released his debut album, "Until Death Call My Name," with the lead single "Outside Today." The album debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 chart.

Early Life:

NBA On October 20, 1999, YoungBoy was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During his childhood, he hurt his neck while fighting with a friend. He was using the head brace for a long period after the incident to repair his spine.

 His forehead was permanently scarred as a result of his prolonged use of a head brace. His childhood was not perfect, but it was difficult. When Gaulden was around eight years old, his father was caught for robbery and condemned to fifty-five years in jail. His grandmother raised him after his mother moved out.

 He dropped out of school in ninth grade. Gaulden was arrested on a robbery accusation. He was sent to the Tallulah Correctional Facility (state of Louisiana). It was around this time that he began sketching and penning lyrics for his debut album. His grandmother died of heart failure after he was released from the penitentiary facility. 

Gaulden then moved in with his buddy NBA 3Three, a Baton Rouge rapper also known as OG 3Three. They also used illicit operations to fund their studio time.

Beginning of Career:

Gaulden began composing music at the age of 14, using a microphone he got from Walmart. His debut mixtape, "Life Before Fame," was released in 2015. The first mixtape was followed by "Before I Go," "Mind of a Menace," and "Mind of a Menace 2."

 In the stanza of his song "Song-for-Song Rap Beef," which was released in December 2015 with Baton Rouge artist Scotty Cain, both rappers made death threats. This, along with Gaulden, contributed to its popularity. 

There was no physical altercation between the two Baton Rouge rappers, but they drew a lot of attention from the audience. He dropped the mixtape "38 Baby" in October 2016. It included Boosie Badazz and Kevin Gates from Baton Rouge. Rappers NBA3Three and Stroke Tha Don also appeared. This October 2016 mixtape began to gain a following, propelling him to the forefront of popularity.

 Another mixtape, "Mind of a Menace 3," was released a week later on November 4th, 2016. During this time, Gaulden's fame skyrocketed. Gaulden was criminally charged with attempted first-degree murder in 2016 in Austin, Texas, in connection with an alleged drive-by gunshot. He was put in jail in East Baton Rouge (Louisiana) (Louisiana). During his time in prison, he re-released two of his mixtapes, "Before I Go" and "Mind of a Menace 3." 

He was released from jail in May 2017 after entering a plea and requesting bail. After a week of being freed from prison, he released his song "Untouchable." In July 2017, Gaulden released a video for his song "41." Popular musicians including Young Thug, Meek Mill, Yo Gotti, Boosie Badazz, and 21 Savage appeared in the video. On August 3, 2017, he released his second mixtape, "Al YoungBoy." 

The mixtape reached No. 24 on the Billboard 200 in the United States. The track "Untouchable," which he released a week after his release from prison, peaked at number 95 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. "No Smoke," his second song from "Al YoungBoy," peaked at No.60 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Until Death Call My Name & AI YoungBoy 2 (2018-2019):

NBA YoungBoy released his highest-performing single, "Outside Today," on January 6, 2018. "Outside Today" peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. Gaulden then signed a joint venture contract with Atlantic Records and released his next studio album, "Until Death Call My Name," on January 11th, 2018.

 YoungBoy's "Until Death Call My Name" was released on April 27th, 2018. In February of this year, he was arrested before a concert. Despite being arrested, he stated that a new mixtape will be released. He was released from jail on March 15, 2018. His second mixtape, "Master The Day of Judgement," was released on May 19, 2018. Gaulden consistently released his songs solely on the YouTube channel. He has previously been one of YouTube's Top Music Artists in the United States for the previous 101 weeks in January 2019. He was the most popular music performer across all genres. He was the ninth best-selling artist on the Billboard Mid-Year list in 2019. 

He also ranked seventh in the top ten on-demand audio streaming without missing a beat in the first six months of 2019. Gaulden was sentenced to fourteen months of home arrest in early 2019 for a probation violation. During this time, he was unable to record music anyplace other than his own home. On December 8, 2019, Juice WRLD died after a heroin overdose. Gaulden previously released a tune with him named "Bandit" on October 4th, 2019. The song reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100. This was by far YoungBoy's most successful track on the charts. 

On October 10, 2019, a sequel to Gaulden's 2017 mixtape "All YoungBoy" was released under the moniker "Al YoungBoy 2." It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the United States. His mixtape "38 Baby 2" was released on April 24, 2020, and opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. YoungBoy's second album "Top," announced on August 20, 2020, was released on September 11, 2020. It includes three of his Billboard Hot 100 singles: "All In," "My Window," and "Kacey Talk." "Top" opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the United States. It was his third album to top the charts in less than a year. 

NBA YoungBoy's fourth solo project of 2020, a mixtape titled "Until I Return," was published exclusively on YouTube on November 11, 2020. After three days of exclusive YouTube release, the mixtape was accessible for streaming. He did not include any artists this time. Gaulden was arrested on November 28, 2016, immediately before a show in Austin, Texas. He reportedly stepped out of a car and began fire on a throng on a South Baton Rouge roadway. He got charged with two counts of attempted murder. He was imprisoned for a short time before being freed in August 2017.

 He entered a guilty plea to a charge of assault with a handgun. He was subsequently sentenced to 10 years in jail, suspended, with three years of active probation.NBA YoungBoy was arrested once more on February 25, 2018, before a show in Tallahassee, at a nightclub named "The Moon." 

He was wanted by the state of Georgia for assault, firearms violation, and abduction. Following the arrest, a video of Gaulden beating someone was leaked. On May 12, 2019, NBA YoungBoy took part in another shoot-out in Miami. When a gunman began to fire from a black Cadillac Escalade, he was returning fire.

 Gaulden's girlfriend was hurt in the event, and a bystander was murdered. YoungBoy's shooting accusations were dropped. Gaulden was on probation at the time of the event, and he was with Ben Fields and Trulondrick Norman. This was a breach of a particular probation requirement.

Gaulden's lawyer rejects the charge, claiming that he did not have a gun or drugs at the time of his arrest, and there was no sign of such. YoungBoy removed all social media accounts, including Twitter and Instagram. Federal officials apprehended Gaulden on March 22, 2022, while executing a federal warrant. 

The federal agents sought to halt Gaulden's car to serve the federal warrant. He is believed to have deboarded the car on foot and fled. A search was conducted, which included the use of K9, the police dog unit. Gaulden was then arrested on federal criminal charges.
