Tekashi 69's Reaction To Lil Tjay Getting Shot Is Unsurprising

TEKASHI 69 MAKES FUN OF LIL TJAY'S INCIDENT

On Wednesday, June 22, it was reported that Lil Tjay, a promising New York rapper, had to undergo surgery after getting shot during an attempted robbery in Edgewater, New Jersey. Tjay was shot numerous times, as was a second, as-yet-unidentified victim. According to a tweet previewing new songs, the "Calling My Phone" rapper was looking forward to a "wonderful summer" after a spate of duets including "24 Hrs" with Kaash Paige and "Bag Season" with French Montana. Three arrests have been made thus far, while Tjay remains hospitalized but stable.

Another New York rapper, whose career has taken an unexpected turn recently, chimed in with a predictable reaction to the news. Tekashi 69, the troll-ish Brooklyn rapper who went from dominating the city's brash street scene to being labeled a snitch after testifying against some of his gangbanging cronies, responded to the shooting with a pair of crying emojis — one laughing, one sobbing — in the comments of an Instagram post about it. While he is reprehensible, his reaction isn't exactly surprising; 6ix9ine has a history of mocking other rappers' misfortunes, including taunting King Von's friends after the Chicago rapper's death and trolling Young Thug after his recent racketeering arrest — the same charges Tekashi narrowly avoided by testifying.

Knowing that Tekashi recently appealed for consideration over his imminent bankruptcy, you'd think he'd show some empathy and humility for once. But that isn't what gained him the notoriety, and it doesn't appear he'll ever get away from that technique - even if all it gets him is socks to the noggin. ----
