Gunna Drops “Missing Me” Performance Video
Gunna may be behind bars awaiting trial on RICO allegations, but the Atlanta musician is still releasing graphics to promote his latest album, DS4EVER.
Gunna released a performance video of "Missing Me" on Wednesday (July 20), in which the rapper is decked out in jewelry that sparkles against his all-white attire while he performs the track's melancholy lyrics. “I was hoping that you’d notice me/I’m in the sky, baby, shine like a star, baby/And I know you don’t believe in me/It’s in my heart, baby, I’m goin’ hard, baby,” Gunna sings.
Young Thug and Gunna were two of the 28 YSL associates charged with RICO in May. Gunna was first denied release and was compelled to remain in jail despite appearing electronically for another bail hearing in Fulton County Court earlier in July.
According to WSB-TV, the 29-year-old "pushin p" songwriter will now be imprisoned until his January 2023 trial. Gunna and his legal team have continued to battle for his release, and on his 29th birthday, the Drip Harder rapper sent an open message to his followers via social media.
“As a Black Man in America, it seems as though my art is only acceptable when I’m a source of entertainment for the masses,” Gunna wrote in part. “My art is not allowed to stand alone as entertainment, I’m not allowed that freedom as a Black Man in America.”
He continued: “For now, I don’t have my freedom. But I am innocent. I am being falsely accused and will never stop fighting to clear my name! The picture being painted of me is ugly and untrue. My fans know I love to celebrate life, I love my family, I love to travel, I love music, and I love my fans. I have all faith that God will grant me justice for the purity in my heart and the innocence of my actions.”
