Kenyatta Scott, JayDaYoungan's father, has revealed new information regarding his son's hometown murder. TMZ reports that Scott explained that JayDaYoungan was sitting in the front yard of his humble Bogalusa house on Wednesday night (July 27), according to Scott, when a black vehicle drew up. As he and his kid sought to go inside, three individuals came out and fired their rifles.
Scott said two additional individuals appeared from the side of the house and began firing. Scott attempted to protect himself and JayDaYoungan, but it was too late. Scott was punched in the arm twice, and the 24-year-old rapper was hit at least eight times. JayDaYoungan was airlifted to Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in severe condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Scott, who is still in the Hospital, believes his son was murdered out of envy. JayDaYoungan, as far as he knew, had no problem with anyone and was not involved in any gang activities. Scott believes the accused were simply jealous of his success. Detectives are looking into all possible motives, including gangs and/or retribution, according to Bogalusa Police Chief Kendall Bullen. Police believe there was just one shooter, despite Scott's claim.
L.C. Jefferson, JayDaYoungan's grandpa, talked to local news affiliate WDSU immediately after the murder and expressed horror at the heinous nature of the act.
“There will be no stone left unturned until we find out who took him,” Jefferson said. “This is only what I hear. Someone came from behind the house with a ski mask on and gunned him down. In broad daylight, on a busy road. People have gotten so bold to where they think they can shoot someone down and not be caught.”
