YOUNG THUG NEPHEW ARRESTED FOR MURDERING HIS GIRLFRIEND

The nephew of Atlanta rapper Young Thug is being held on suspicion of murdering his girlfriend in East Point. According to a representative for the East Point Police Department, Fardereen Deonta Grier was arrested and charged with the murder of Destiny Fitzpatrick on Wednesday. Officers responding to the scene discovered Grier crying and Fitzpatrick dead in a pool of blood near the front door of the home, according to TMZ. Grier initially told officers that he was fighting off two armed, masked intruders, but later admitted to shooting the victim in the face. Officials said Grier informed detectives he was the son of Young Thug's sister when being questioned, which a source subsequently corroborated to TMZ.
The 30-year-old Atlanta rapper, whose official name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was also arrested in May when authorities indicted him under Georgia's RICO Act. According to the 88-page indictment, Williams, fellow Atlanta rapper Gunna, and 26 others are members of the Young Slime Life, or YSL, a subsection of the Bloods street gang. Prosecutors claim the individuals charged in the indictment have been involved in violent criminal activities in the city since 2012. A Fulton County judge denied Williams bond in June, citing a threat made to the court in 2015 by Williams, which stated, "Anybody walks into the courtroom and reveals the god's honest truth, they'll be f—-ing murdered." The judge stated that the authenticity of that threat would have to be confirmed in court, but it indicates that he may be a danger to the community. Williams may face up to 20 years in jail and a $250,000 fine if convicted of RICO.
