Eminem & 50 Cent Reunite on New Song ‘Is This Love’ Prod. by Dr. Dre
Eminem, 50 Cent, and Dr. Dre have reunited on "Is This Love ('09)," a previously unreleased song from Slim Shady's recently released compilation album Curtain Call 2.
The song, as the title suggests, was recorded in 2009, the same year Eminem made his post-Encore comeback with Relapse, and tries to find the close-knit trio connecting for a playful song about romantic and sexual infatuation.
"Girl, I dig your whole MO/
Give me a go, you’re throwin’ innuendo/
Keep sendin’ me smoke signals/
Everything’s movin’, spinning in slow M-O-T-I-O-N,” Em raps over bouncy production from Dr. Dre, Mark Batson, and Trevor Lawrence Jr.
Meanwhile, 50 Cent embraces his inner Slim Shady with a fast-paced, acronym-riddled verse with plenty of shock value. 50 recorded his rhymes significantly later than 2009, according to at least one song.
“I kill a bitch with a potato peeler for the skrilla/I’m finna skin a sinner, dick robbed like Bruce Jenner,” he shouts, referring to Caitlyn Jenner's 2015 gender transformation.
"Is This Love ('09")" is one of three new songs on Curtain Call 2, along with "From the D 2 the LBC," which features Snoop Dogg, and "The King and I," which also appears on the Elvis soundtrack.
The major objective of Curtain Call 2 s to serve as a highlight reel of Eminem's extensive repertoire from the release of his first greatest hits album, Curtain Call: The Hits, in 2005.
The double-disc set features fan favorites including "Rap God," "Not Afraid," and "The Monster," as well as studio albums, collaborative ventures, movie soundtracks, and guest appearances. A-listers such as Lil Wayne, Rihanna, and Beyoncé make appearances throughout the film.
If its predecessor is any indication, Curtain Call 2 will make a significant impact on the Billboard charts. Curtain Call, which featured early-career anthems like "My Name Is," "Stan," and "Lose Yourself," topped the Billboard 200 after selling 441,000 copies in just two days.
