DJ AKADEMIKS AGREES TO MEET WITH LL COOL J AFTER THE 'DUSTY' CONTROVERSY
DJ Akademiks has taken a lot of criticism this week for making disrespectful statements about Hip Hop's predecessors, and he's finally spoken publicly about it.

Last week, the media personality infuriated half of the culture when he called Hip Hop's founders "dusty" and stated their worth was defined by how much money they had in their bank accounts.

On Monday (September 26), Akademiks appeared on The Breakfast Club to address a variety of things, including his ill-advised remarks.

The matter was swiftly explored by hosts DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God, with Envy questioning him, "You really gonna piss on everybody?"

Whilst Akademiks confessed to having a "bad week," he seems to understand that he could improve his tone when delivering his frequently divisive opinions. If the Rock The Bells OG is agreeable, he has promised to meet with LL COOL J, who first brought his "dusty" statements to light on Instagram.

“I’m down to talk to LL [COOL J] and I’m gonna talk to —T.I. reached out, too,” he said. “We’re going to have an official talk. But it’s his birthday, so he didn’t want to do too much today.”

When Charlamagne Tha God mentioned Akademiks' aggressive attitude, the former Everyday Struggle host admitted that his thoughts were more difficult to digest when presented in that manner, but he insisted that even if he spoke to LL COOL J in a more polite manner, his "points wouldn't alter."

He added: “The tone changes, even if I was ‘wrong’ about any point, I still stood on it. As a broadcaster, I’ve been learning that a lot.”

Akademiks also mentioned Reginae Carter's mother, Lil Wayne's ex-wife Toya Johnson, who called him out for telling Carter preferred "hood n-ggas" when addressing the Young Money rapper's daughter and her new boyfriend Ar'mon.

“This recent thing with Toya, I did a tone check before,” he said. “I knew it was going to get lost in it. This is a newer media. I livestream discussing Hip Hop topics and I’m drinking, but I’m trying to entertain people […] My clips are either super hilarious or ‘Damn, he’s disrespectful.’”

After stating that he will meet with T.I., who was upset by Akademiks' outburst over Carter, he continued, "I have spirited debates." I

Later, Akademiks tackled the amount of experienced Hip Hop musicians that replied to his rage, claiming that his statements had been taken out of context.

“I ain’t gonna lie, a lot of the guys — who by the way, I looked up to most of them who responded — 95 percent of the people who responded to me in terms of OGs, they weren’t broke and dusty,” he said. “There were five percent that were though, but 95 percent of them, these are the success stories. But you omitted the context. I was talking about passing on game. I was talking about educating the next generation, rather than criticizing them.”
