PAT STAY, A CANADIAN BATTLE RAPPER, WAS STABBED TO DEATH IN HALIFAX

Pat Stay, a well-known battle rapper in Canada and the United States, is said to have died after being fatally stabbed.

Pat Stay was stabbed and murdered early Sunday morning in Halifax, Nova Scotia, according to a CBC News report published on Sunday (Sept. 4). Although Halifax Regional Police have yet to identify the victim, Stay's brother, Peter Stay, verified the tragic news to CBC News.

According to sources, at 12:36 a.m., officers responded to a weapons call in the 1600 block of Lower Water Street. When officers arrived, they located a guy "suffering from injuries consistent with being the victim of a stabbing." The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead.

Pat Stay, born Patrick Wayne Stay, was a well-known fight rap performer across the world. On his diss tune "Warm Up," released two days before his sad death, the Canadian rapper challenged The Game to a rap war. The song was written in response to the Compton, California rapper's 10-minute diss track "The Black Slim Shady," which appeared on his album Drillmatic: Heart Vs. Mind.

Following the shocking news of Pat Stay's death, various hip-hop musicians paid tribute to him on Twitter.
