-WHO IS YBN CORDAE:

Cordae Dunston is an American hip-hop musician. He is better known by his professional identities, YBN Cordae and Entendre. Cordae was born in North Carolina and raised in Maryland. His father, who listened to contemporary rappers, sparked his early interest in music. He began writing his own music when he was 15, although it was first only a pastime for him.

That transformed as time passed, and he became well-versed in hip hop history. When he was an adolescent, he published three mixtapes under the alias Entendre. He graduated from high school, enrolled in college, and then dropped out because it was "too huge" for him.

He eventually relocated to Los Angeles, where he began to take hip hop seriously for the first time. In 2018, he joined the Young Boss Niggas group and adopted the stage moniker YBN Cordae.

He rose to prominence after releasing remixes of hit songs such as Eminem's "My Name Is" and J. Cole's "1985." Cordae became an online phenomenon after performing freestyle over several beats during an interview with L.A. Leakers.

-CHILDHOOD & EARLY LIFE:

YBN Cordae was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 26, 1997. When he was eleven years old, he and his family relocated to Suitland, Maryland.

Growing up, he has exposed to rap music from the 1990s and 2000s thanks to his father, who would play Nas, Rakim, Big L, and Talib Kweli around Cordae, thereby helping him acquire a refined musical taste. His later career will be heavily influenced by the music he listened to with his father.

He began writing rap songs when he was 15 years old. It started off as simply another pastime, something he did in his own time. Inspired by the many hours he spent listening to old songs with his father, he would go online and undertake extensive research on certain musicians on YouTube in order to discover additional music by those artists and "get lost" in the suggested area.

- CAREER:

Cordae's ambition to pursue a profession in the music industry grew stronger as he grew older. Because he was still in school at the time, his studies demanded his whole concentration. The time he spent penning lyrics would frequently cut into the time he had for his academics.

In 2014, he released the mixtape 'Anxiety' under the stage moniker Entendre. He was a member of the indie music label N.A.G.E. at the time. He'd previously worked on a few tracks and videos, but this was his first mixtape. It contains 13 songs, including 'Life,' 'Genesis,' 'Questions,' 'Explanations,' 'Adrenaline,' 'Down and Out,' 'Text Back,' 'Sucker for Love,' 'Wonders,' and 'Not Good Enough.'

'I'm So Anxious,' his second mixtape, was released in 2016. The sophomore mixtape, which also included WillThaRapper, Jon Bartley, and Zoe Stream, was larger than the previous one and comprised 17 tracks, including 'Pressure,' 'Gone,' 'Make It Easy,' 'About Me,' 'Dying,' 'Never,' 'Can't Take It,' 'All I Ask,' '3 A.M. Thoughts,' 'Hideaway,'

'I'm So Anonymous,' his third mixtape, was released on August 9, 2017, and contains 15 tracks: 'Long Nights,' 'All That Glitters,' 'Bestfriend,' 'Rock Bottom,' 'Running Away,' 'Come Thru,' 'Price Tags,' 'Rap Politicians,' 'Tough Decisions,' 'Nervous,' 'Identity Crisis,' '

Cordae began attending Towson University in Maryland after graduating from high school in 2015.

He finally dropped out in 2018, claiming that the college was "larger than him." He was a first-generation student who had enrolled to please his mother. He then left Maryland for Los Angeles, California.

By early 2018, his interest in pursuing a career as a hip-hop musician had skyrocketed. Los Angeles has always had a robust hip-hop scene, and Cordae quickly immersed himself in it. While he was not releasing new songs at the time, he began to associate with YBN Nahmir and YBN Almighty, whom he first met on Xbox Live.

He considered Nahmir and Almighty to be his brothers, and he was already a member of the group in all but name.

According to Cordae, the only thing keeping Nahmir and Almighty from making him an official member of YBN was the fact that his social media handles were still Entendre's. As a result, he adopted the stage name YBN Cordae.

In May 2018, he released the tune 'Introduction to the World,' a remix of Eminem's 1999 song 'My Name Is,' as YBN Cordae on WorldStarHipHop. Later, he released 'Old Niggas,' a reaction to J. Cole's '1985.'

In 2018, he also released two other singles, 'Fighting Temptations and 'Kung Fu.' During an interview with the musical group L.A. Leakers in June, he performed freestyles over Kendrick Lamar's 'DUCKWORTH,' Lil Pump's 'Esskeetit,' and Method Man & Redman's 'Da Rockwilder.' The performance video went viral, successfully presenting Cordae to a larger audience.

He performed alongside Nahmir and Almighty at the Rolling Loud music festival. According to some, this was his first stage appearance. They also attended the 2018 XXL Freshman Show in New York, where Nahmir was admitted into the class of 2018.

Cordae will perform on Juice Wrld's North American WRLD Domination tour. The trip is scheduled to visit 28 cities. The tour's lineup also features Lil Mosey and Blake. He is also planning a European tour as a member of YBN.

Cordae's societal conscience has an impact on his music. In his songs, he is outspoken about various issues affecting the black community today.
