A WITNESS IN A YOUNG THUG RICO Trial WAS PLACED IN PROTECTIVE CUSTODY. AFTER A COURT DOCUMENT LEAK
Everything doesn't appear to be going well for Young Thug these days. The Atlanta star is presently incarcerated awaiting trial. It was announced yesterday that he had been refused bail for the third time.
Prior to the bond hearing, court filings revealed that at least one individual named in YSL's RICO indictment intended to collaborate with the police. YSL Woody is said to have struck a plea deal with authorities in the case in order to reveal information on Thug's alleged role in YSL.
According to AJC, state prosecutors acknowledged that at least one co-defendant sought protective custody after records leaked online indicating that a member of YSL planned to collaborate.
Fulton County prosecutor Don Geary asked the judge to limit even more evidence in the case, especially after a snitch in the camp was revealed in a tabloid newspaper.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis also requested that the judge prohibit lawyers from disclosing evidence with anybody other than the defendants' defense teams. Willis stated that the state provided the attorneys the opportunity to find evidence, such as "all lay witnesses (and) collaborating YSL colleagues who will be asked to testify in this case"
""However, information from the state's discovery material has emerged on public websites since the date of those files," Willis stated in her request. "As a result, the state now has serious concerns about the safety of that listed witness, as well as other possible witnesses in this trial."
Nevertheless,
Gunna's counsel reacted angrily to Willis' apparent concern for the safety of their witnesses.
Kristen Novay demanded evidence of these claimed threats.
"We want to know what specific threats there are,” Novay said. “There have been many allegations that there are threats to witnesses, and to date, we have received no discovery, not a single shred of evidence from a witness who was actually threatened.”
