Hip Hop World Star Rock's murder made international headlines after being fatally shot on Monday (Sept. 12) in Los Angeles, California. As the hip-hop world mourns his death, the rapper's fans celebrated his legacy and memory by streaming his popular single, "Selfish," propelling the song to the top of Apple Music's top songs list, according to Chart data.

In June 2016, PnB Rock, born Rakim Hasheem Allen, released the song off his mixtape, GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions. "Selfish," the album's fourth track, has had approximately 350 million Spotify listens since its debut, quickly becoming one of PnB's most successful hits.

Throughout the four-minute track, Rock focuses on his fear of commitment while professing his desires for an anonymous woman. Throughout the song, he expresses sensitivity to the woman while discussing her potential to see another man. "Shawty, I can't help it. "You know, when you come around, I get stuck," he raps. "And them n**gas be sick ’cause we be on some s**t. Yeah, they know, I’m gon’ hold it down. Pull up in the whip, tell you, ‘Hop in with your friends. We [gonna] go to my crib. Have my chef cook us dinner. Girl, you know, you f**kin’ with a winner.'”

Throughout his career, the rapper has released two studio albums, TrapStar Turnt PopStar in 2019 and Catch These Vibes in 2017; one EP, 2 Get You Thru The Rain; and a number of mixtapes, including RnB 3; Money, Hoes & Flows; and, most recently, SoundCloud Daze.

PnB Rock was fatally murdered while eating at Roscoe's Chicken 'N Waffles on West Manchester Avenue in Los Angeles, California. He was with his girlfriend at the time of the incident; she was not injured. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died later.
