Gucci Mane artist Mac Critter charged with murder after him & another male gunned a man down in a vacant parking lot 4 days before Christmas

One of Gucci Mane's talents has been arrested, sparking suspicions of a curse around the Atlanta rapper. According to police documents, 1017 Global musician Mac Critter was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Monday (Jan. 2), according to XXL. According to a police affidavit, Mac, Real name Daniel Bates, is one of three persons accused with the murder of Markeith Taylor on December 21, 2022, in North Memphis

According to police, Taylor was approached by four individuals, all of whom were armed with firearms. A witness identified one of the suspects, Gary Taylor, as the one who fired numerous rounds that injured the victim.

The witness allegedly recognized Mac Critter in a photo lineup. In relation to the killing, Danterio Owens has also been charged with first-degree murder. The accused have been detained and are being held without bail.

Mac's attorney, Arthur Horne, issued the following statement to local Memphis TV station Fox 13 on Tuesday (Jan. 3): "I assumed my client would have received a bail," Horne said. "According to the affidavit, he was present, but he is not the shooter. Gary Taylor was the suspected shooter when he was granted bail. I was hoping that we would receive bond today, but we didn't."

Horne also addressed the arrest in a speech to XXL.

"We would ask his fans and the public to not rush to judgment in this case," Horne said. "We are hopeful and optimistic that Daniel Bates p/k/a Mac Critter will be able to clear his name so that he can move forward with his life and music career."

On Tuesday, Mac Critter's crew released a statement via his Instagram Story. "Mac said he will be home real soon some small to a giant," the IG message reads. "He wanna thank all his fans for supporting him from day1!!"

The arrest has sparked internet speculation about a "curse" being placed on musicians who sign with Gucci Mane's company.
