Judge Decides Drake’s Outcome In Upcoming XXXTENTACION Murder Trial

Drake will not be called to testify in the forthcoming murder trial of XXXTENTACION. On Tuesday, Dedrick Williams' defense attorney, Mauricio Padilla, asked the judge to continue Drake's deposition inside a Broward County courtroom (January 10).

Padilla claimed Drake and people associated with him, including Akademiks, had issues with the late rapper, according to Local 10 News.

Last month, Williams and Padilla requested Drake and Akademiks' participation."the testimony of the said Aubrey Drake Graham is material to the case, and it is necessary to take the said Aubrey Drake Graham's deposition to prevent the failure of justice."

The court eventually refused the application, stating that there was "no necessity" to issue an order compelling Drake or Akademiks to testify. Everyone eventually decided that no one would be allowed to wear graphic t-shirts during the trial of any of the defendants or XXXTENTACION.

The state also tried to stop the defense teams from attacking XXXTENTACION's reputation, but they retaliated, arguing Assistant State Attorney Pascale Achille's motion was "extremely broad."

They argued that Achille might use it to prohibit them from suggesting XXXTENTACION was linked with those who may have intended to harm him, noting that it "shows intent not character." The judge chose to address that matter during the trial.
