According to a news statement from the Houston Police Department on Monday (April 24), Jeremyah Smith, 19, has been detained and charged with the rapper's murder. Following the shooting last September, a second suspect, Christian Isaiah Williams, 24, was apprehended.

Lotta Cash Desto, also known as Destinee Govan, was shot and died in Houston early on September 24, 2022. According to a police report, officers arrived to 5500 Richmond Avenue after receiving reports of a gunshot and "found Ms. Govan unresponsive in the driver’s seat of her vehicle.

Paramedics pronounced her deceased. A second woman was also found inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital."

Officers subsequently discovered suspect Williams, who was suffering from a gunshot wound, in an adjacent parking lot. He was brought into jail after being transferred to a nearby hospital.

"It was determined that Govan and her friend were in Govan's vehicle stopped behind a dark four-door vehicle at the traffic light at Richmond Avenue and Chimney Rock Road when two black males exited the dark vehicle and started shooting at the women," according to the police report.
