Snoop Dogg Recalls Cooking Feast for Late Rapper DMX

Snoop Dogg's Special Meal for DMX
The passing of DMX in 2021 sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community, prompting artists worldwide to reflect on their moments with the legendary New York rapper. Among those who had the privilege to collaborate extensively with X was Snoop Dogg. Their unforgettable Verzuz battle in July 2020 showcased not just rivalry, but a profound camaraderie between these two influential MCs.

Snoop recently shared his post-Verzuz reminiscence with X in an exclusive interview with Insider. Following the spirited battle, the Doggfather himself took to the kitchen to whip up a sumptuous feast in celebration.

"I had an amazing time cooking for the late, great DMX," Snoop fondly recalled. "After we did our Verzuz battle at my studio, he ended up staying here and continuing to work on his album." His final studio offering, "Exodus," was unveiled in May 2021, a poignant release just a month after his passing.

While X was busy laying down tracks in the studio, Snoop was crafting a culinary masterpiece. "I put together some short ribs, some rice, some gravy, some corn, and cornbread," he remembered. "And DMX and [Verzuz co-creator] Swizz Beatz damn near ate the tray, they couldn't believe how good it was."

The praise for his cooking was so effusive that Snoop found himself back in the kitchen for three consecutive days, a task he embraced with honor and joy. "I had to cook for them for like three days in a row, and I was honored to do it and I was happy to do it," Snoop said. "It made me feel good to know I was giving them nourishment and food to go and create a record. That was one of my highlights, to be able to cook for them and for them to enjoy it."

Snoop has since become a well-known figure not only in music but also in the culinary world, thanks to his popular cooking show with Martha Stewart, "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party." In 2018, he also unveiled his own cookbook, "From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg's Kitchen," cementing his status as a culinary maestro.
