Charlamagne Tha God Labels Drake ‘Donkey of the Day’ Over Kendrick Lamar Feud Fallout
On a recent episode of "The Breakfast Club," Charlamagne Tha God stirred up controversy by naming Drake as the show’s infamous "Donkey of the Day."
The radio personality didn’t mince words, taking the Canadian rapper to task over his response to Kendrick Lamar’s recent diss tracks and a subsequent legal action involving Universal Music Group (UMG).
Charlamagne opened his critique by calling Drake out for what he perceived as a lack of resilience in the face of lyrical competition.
“Drake is mad that Kendrick Lamar kicked his a** lyrically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally”
Charlamagne said, making it clear where he thought the edge lay in the ongoing feud.
He also aimed his barbs at Drake's fans, who defended the rapper’s moves as a stand for artistry. Charlamagne quipped, mocking the rapper’s devoted fanbase.“Anybody acting like this is anything more than Drake’s feelings being hurt, you a h*e too. An O-V-H*e to be exact.”
The Breakfast Club host then highlighted a specific contradiction in Drake’s actions.
He reminded listeners of Drake’s previous jabs at Kendrick Lamar’s wife, Whitney, in his music, arguing that the defamation accusations against Kendrick reeked of hypocrisy.
But the most scathing critique came when Charlamagne questioned Drake’s understanding of hip-hop culture.
He pointed out how Drake avoided addressing Kendrick's diss tracks, including “Not Like Us” and “Euphoria,” directly through music.
“You chose to tap out after not hearing ‘Not Like Us.’ Kendrick dropped too much tune for your headtop? He gave you ‘Euphoria,’ ‘6:16 in LA,’ ‘Meet The Grahams,’ and ‘Not Like Us’ [and] it was too much for you…You could have went in the studio and gave us a bop—you the bop guy! You could have gotten with some ghostwriters, went in the studio, and wrote a hit to combat ‘Not Like Us,’ but you chose not to.”
Charlamagne blasted Drake for taking legal action against UMG, calling it hypocritical given how much the label has supported him throughout his career.
"I'm trying to get you to see why you look like a complete and total sucker, Drake, Those same tricks you are accusing UMG of doing for 'Not Like Us,' they have done for you your whole career."
Drake Called ‘Donkey of the Day’ by Charlamagne Tha God After UMG Legal Controversy:
Finally, Charlamagne continues by declaring Drake as the "Donkey of the Day.""Drake saying that Kendrick defamed him is indeed the pot calling the kettle beige, but that's not even why I'm giving him donkey of the day. I'm giving him donkey of the day because Drake is proving, without a shadow of a doubt, that he simply doesn't understand culture."
The takedown left fans and industry insiders buzzing, reigniting debates about rap feuds, authenticity, and how artists navigate conflict in the hip-hop world.
For now, Drake remains under fire, but his next move could shift the narrative—if he’s ready to face the music.
