Wiz Khalifa Reacts To Drake's Lawsuit Against Kendrick Lamar Over 'Not Like Us'

Wiz Khalifa Weighs In on Drake's Legal Troubles with Kendrick Lamar

The hip-hop community is buzzing with controversy as Drake finds himself embroiled in a legal dispute that many are criticizing as excessive.

The rapper recently filed two pre-action petitions against UMG, Spotify, and iHeartRadio, alleging these entities inflated streaming numbers for Kendrick Lamar’s track "Not Like Us."

This bold move has caused a significant backlash, leaving fans and fellow artists questioning Drake's motivations.

In his petitions, Drake claims that Lamar's song, which includes inflammatory lyrics, has been unfairly promoted by the streaming services.

He’s also targeting UMG, accusing them of defamation for allowing the track to be released without scrutiny. The heated nature of the lyrics, which allude to serious personal allegations, has added fuel to the fire.

Hearing dates have been set, with the first concerning Spotify and UMG scheduled for January 16 at the New York Supreme Court. The defamation claims will be addressed much sooner, on December 19.

Notably, as of now, these petitions have not escalated into full-blown lawsuits, as Drake and his legal team are still in the process of gathering supporting evidence for their claims.

Wiz Khalifa, a fellow artist and influential voice in hip-hop, shared his thoughts on the situation. He noted that Drake's actions didn’t come as a surprise to him.

“That sound like a Drake move to me, He’s a musician and a businessman in my eyes, so it’s like if he’s not in the public eye winning musically, he’s going to get a win wherever he can. I mean, it’s a smart thing to do, in my opinion.”

However, Khalifa’s remarks have led to speculation that he could be taking a subtle jab at Drake, especially when asked if he believed the rapper crossed a line by initiating legal actions against Kendrick.

This interpretation has sparked discussions among fans and commentators on whether Khalifa’s comments were a critique of Drake’s approach.

As the situation develops, industry insiders and fans alike are left to ponder the implications of this legal saga.

Hip-hop has a history of rivalries and legal disputes, but will this particular battle redefine Drake’s legacy or further entrench him as a controversial figure in the rap game?

The coming court dates promise to be pivotal, with the potential to significantly impact all parties involved.
