Rumors about Dreamville Records being sold sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community, but one of the label’s core artists is setting the story straight.
JID Sparks Confusion About Dreamville’s Ownership
During a recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, JID, one of the breakout stars of J. Cole’s Dreamville, raised eyebrows when he said:“They didn’t go public, but Dreamville sold Dreamville.”
The comment quickly went viral, and so did the confusion. Cozz Responds: “Dreamville Wasn’t Sold”
To calm the buzz, Cozz, a longtime Dreamville artist, spoke with TMZ to clarify what actually went down.
“To clear that up, They did not sell Dreamville. They just ended their partnership with UMG. And, yes … We all got pieces of the pie. [Cole] didn’t have to do that, either. That was just something he decided to do as a token of gratitude for rocking with him and taking the Dreamville ride with him for all these years.”
