On Sunday night, Eminem paid tribute to the late Pat Stay on Twitter, declaring him among the greatest performers ever. The iconic battle rapper was stabbed to death previously in the day in Fairfax, Nova Scotia. "Hip Hop lost one of the best battlers of all time," Eminem on Twitter. "RIP @patstay... KINGS NEVER DIE!!
According to sources, the stabbing happened at 12:36 a.m. in the 1600 block of Lower Water Street. Stay was subsequently transferred to a neighboring hospital, where he died from his injuries at the age of 36. Although Halifax Regional Police had not publicly named Stay as the victim of the attack, his brother, Peter, confirmed his death to CBS News.
Police did not say anything about what caused the stabbing or whether there were any witnesses. An investigation is now underway.
Stay awhile back defended Eminem in the midst of his feud with The Game. Stay said on social media in response to the latter's diss track, “The Black Slim Shady. I gotta say, as a fan losangelesconfidential it's been hard to watch you desperately begging for @eminem attention while trying to battle him. Trust me, I respect the hunger, but once you start that whole ‘he only blew up because he’s white’ type sh*t it comes off more hater-ish than competitive.”
