Rockstar Games Forces Lil Durk To Shut Down His 'GTA' 'Trenches' Server

Rockstar Games and its developer Take-Two Interactive have apparently shut down Lil Durk's popular Trenches roleplaying Grand Theft Auto V server.

According to PCGamesN, the two companies removed Durk's RP while cracking down on the usage of NFTs and cryptocurrencies in games.

Last week, Rockstar said it would sue anybody who "misused Rockstar trademarks and IP, real-world brands, characters, and music, including the sale of 'loot boxes' for real-world cash or its in-game counterpart." Although roleplaying servers were supposed to be safe, Lil Durk's Trenches proved otherwise.

The Trenches team issued an announcement stating that they had been shut down by Rockstar and that the server was suspended — hopefully temporarily — on Sunday (November 20) at midnight ET.

“We’ve been asked to cease all operations of Trenches,” the company wrote. “We have no choice but to comply with their demands as we intend to do right by Take-Two and Rockstar. We will be working with them to find an amicable solution to this problem.”

Durk's Trenches server debuted in Grand Theft Auto V in August, and the gameplay clip quickly went viral, since the city was modeled after Southside Chicago and includes a mural of the late OTF rapper King Von, who was assassinated in November 2020.
