Drake Takes Shots at Pusha T & Pharrell Amid Travis Scott’s 'UTOPIA' Album - WhatsOnRap

Drake's 'Meltdown' Diss Track Targets Pusha T and Pharrell on 'Utopia'

Drake, the renowned hip-hop rapper, became the center of attention last Friday (July 28) when he joined forces once again with his frequent collaborator, Travis Scott, on the latter's highly-anticipated fourth studio album, 'Utopia.' The social media landscape buzzed with excitement as Drake dropped some fiery bars on the track "MELTDOWN," making headlines and setting tongues wagging.

In his scathing verse, Drake didn't hold back as he took aim at none other than Pharrell Williams, who had recently been appointed as the men's creative director for the iconic fashion house Louis Vuitton, a position previously held by the late and deeply missed Virgil Abloh a close friend of the OVO commander.

With his signature flow, Drake rapped, Man, f–k all that spinning the narrative s–t/ I melt down the chains that I bought from your boss,” spews Drake in the latter half of his verse, taking slight aim at Pusha’s relationship with Pharrell. “Give a f–k about all of that heritage s–t/ Since V not around the members done hung up the Louis/ They not even wearing that s–t.”

This wasn't the first time Drake showcased his bold and unapologetic approach when it came to Pharrell's possessions. Earlier in the year, while promoting his collaborative album 'Her Loss' with the talented 21 Savage, Drake proudly flaunted various accessories that had once belonged to Pharrell in the music video for "Jumbotron Shit Poppin." The video provided a visual feast for fans, featuring Drake adorned with iconic pieces like the N.E.R.D. brain pendant and the famed skateboard pendant chain – all of which had been auctioned off the previous year at Pharrell's first global auction house and content platform, Joopiter.

Speaking of Joopiter, it was the place to be in 2022 when it showcased an exquisite collection of items that once graced the enigmatic Pharrell. Among the remarkable items on display, a pair of jeweled-out Oakley glasses caught the attention of many at the pop-up event held in the vibrant city of New York.

As the music industry is known for its dynamics and ever-changing alliances, Pharrell showcased his artistic brilliance by hosting his debut Louis Vuitton fashion show in the fashion capital of the world, Paris.

The star-studded event witnessed the presence of A-listers such as Jay-Z and LeBron James, among others, who came out to support Pharrell's remarkable endeavor. Interestingly, Pusha T, who found himself at the receiving end of Drake's pointed verses, also performed a new track during the show, taking shots at another notable figure, Jim Jones, a staunch supporter of the Toronto-born rapper.

With both Drake and Pharrell showing no signs of backing down, the industry eagerly awaits to witness how this lyrical feud will unfold. The entertainment world remains captivated by the twists and turns of the ongoing saga, and fans are undoubtedly in for a rollercoaster of emotions as they follow the path of these two musical giants.
