Cardi B Fires Back at Joe Budden's Harsh "Bongos" Criticism: “He Has An Issue With Me” - WhatsOnRap

Cardi B Calls Out Joe Budden For His Recent Comments On Her “Bongos” Song

Cardi B Reacts to Joe Budden's Critique of "Bongos"

Joe Budden earlier this week, took to his platform to share his candid thoughts on Cardi B's latest track with Megan Thee Stallion, "Bongos". He didn't mince his words, expressing his discontent with the song. "The hook is not hookin' for me," he critiqued. "There's nothin' in it to make it stay, one. And two...this commercialized ratchet has passed, it's ghetto ratchet time. And neither one of them are ghetto ratchet on this song. We need a 'Bodak Yellow' now. This sounds like two women who can't make a song."

Addressing the controversy on his podcast, Budden was quick to clarify that his critique was directed at the song and not a personal attack on Cardi. He affirmed his appreciation for her as an artist, stating, "Don’t play with me like that because y’all know I f*ck with Cardi. But I stand in what I said about the song.” He further alleged that media outlets, driven by their publicists, sensationalized his comments.

However, Cardi B seems to interpret Budden's remarks differently. In a recent clip, she delves into his "Bongos" comments, suggesting they carry a weight beyond a mere song critique. "I just feel like, it's like he has an issue with me," she muses. "And it was beyond the critique of 'Bongos.'" She contends that Budden tends to be defensive when criticized but doesn't hesitate to launch critiques himself.

Despite varying opinions on "Bongos," Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion recently lit up the stage at the 2023 VMAs with their electrifying performance of the track. The crowd's exuberant response attested to the song's popularity.
