Jada Pinkett Smith has recently revealed a surprising truth: she and Will Smith have been leading separate lives since 2016.

During an illuminating interview with Hoda Kotb on Today, as part of the promotion for her new memoir, "Worthy," the accomplished Hollywood actress disclosed that, despite being legally married, they have chosen different paths.

Jada Pinkett confessed that the reason she didn't make a public announcement about their separation earlier was that she wasn't emotionally prepared yet. She emphasized that she needed time to understand how to navigate this new phase of their partnership.

She acknowledged that there were "a lot of things" that contributed to the unraveling of their marriage. By 2016, both of them felt drained from attempting to fit into an idealized version of what they thought the other should be.

This candid revelation comes after a series of notable incidents involving the once-powerhouse Hollywood couple.

One such incident occurred at the 2022 Oscars when Chris Rock made a wisecrack about Jada Pinkett's then-shaved head due to alopecia. Her visible reaction made it evident that she was hurt by the comment. In a bold move, Will Smith took to the stage and slapped Rock after uttering, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!” While the exact words were inaudible, it was clear from lip-reading what he was expressing.
