Lil Wayne Gives Chain to Disabled Fan Who Finally Saw Him Live After 17 Years at 'Tha Carter VI Tour' Stop in Chicago
Lil Wayne just delivered one of the most heartwarming moments of his Tha Carter VI Tour, and it wasn't on stage.
Following his recent concert at Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre near Chicago on Sunday, August 24, the hip-hop legend surprised a devoted fan with a personal gift and a memory 17 years in the making.
The fan, Sade Stephens, has waited nearly two decades for the chance to meet her favorite rapper, a dream that was almost lost after a life-altering health scare.

Back in 2008, Stephens was planning to attend Lil Wayne’s I Am Music Tour when tragedy struck.
While roller skating, she suffered a cardiac arrest, an incident that left her non-verbal and wheelchair-bound. Her love for the New Orleans rap icon, however, never faded.
Now in her 30s, Stephens finally got her moment thanks to her mother, Andrea Carson.
With the help of Young Money President Mack Maine, Carson coordinated a private backstage meeting between her daughter and Lil Wayne after the Chicago show.

What happened next touched hearts across social media and the hip-hop community.
Lil Wayne personally removed the cross chain he had worn during his set and placed it around Stephens’ neck, a gesture of gratitude, recognition, and love for a fan who had waited so long.
The two smiled for photos, and Carson later described the moment as one of the best days of her daughter’s life.

Wayne is currently on tour in support of his highly anticipated Tha Carter VI album.
The project boasts collaborations with artists like Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, Kodak Black, Big Sean, Wyclef Jean, and even his own sons, Kam and Lil Novi.
Though most of the tour has gone off without a hitch, Lil Wayne was recently forced to cancel his Toronto stop on August 11 due to an “unforeseen illness.” A rescheduled date is expected to be announced soon.
